Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture Show

Usually when I think blue eyeshadow, bright, dramatic retro draping and embroidery its a recipe for evening wear reserved for the gaudy geriatric crowd but Dior made it look real good..
The 50's inspired looks were taken from Mr.Dior's sketches from the time era and given a twist so the collection is not only amazing to look at u get a fashion history lesson. The make-up was an awesome blend of old school Barbie and that cartoon girl that the whistlin' wolf was always after..

Russian Prison System Documentary

Stumbled upon this doc about the underground world of Russian tattoos and prison system. Talks about how all prisoners adhere to strict rules regarding who gets what tattoo. See, over there your ink tells your criminal history. If you were to tattoo something you didnt earn other criminals will either cut it out or hold u down and give u a humiliating tattoo..and were not talkin a fugly 90's tribal armband. They prefer to tattoo penises or derogatory words on your face to make sure everybody knows where u stand. U could say its their version of a tramp stamp. The doc also shows u the horrible conditions these prisoners live in..soo disgusting I felt I needed a shower after watchin it. They make our prisons look like the W hotel.

So I wonder..what do these guys do to the guy at the party that passes out with their shoes on?

This weekend i popped up at the Keenan Gibbs art show at 7th Letter's Open Space. Keenan Gibbs is a pro surfer/photog/filmaker  and all-around cool dude with some interesting work. In this collection you can tell he was inspired by the ocean, beach, and surfer culture.

I just saw Basquiat the Radiant Child
its a documentary based on his life.
it has never before seen footage of his personal life and as well interviews. Its really cool to see him in a different light. 
Even though i am a big fan of his art 
i wasnt expecting to like this movie as much as i did.

Beautiful Losers

So the other day i saw the documentary Beautiful Losers. Its about the how the punk, hip-hop, and skate movements of the 90's influenced the street artists of that time. These artists caused the d.i.y. street art style to flourish. The film features interviews with such artists as Harmony Korine, Ed Templeton, Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee and plenty others recollecting on why and how this form of art came to be and what it means to them.

Oh, i really don't know and i really don't care...

i have no clue what im doing as far as blogging. ive been wanting to do this cause i need this. im new to the game but what i do know is what inspires me, strikes my curiosity and fascinates me..my gripes, likes and dislikes. this blog will somehow convey all that. everything from music, art, fashion, food, dyi ..that and, i dont know, any other random shit i may come up with. i do this for no other reason than self expression. what better time than now. its a new year and im ecstatic. i see great things in my future.
